The Nov. 1 panel on “Economic Disobedience” provided a stimulating springboard into our weekend discussions on the theme of “Retooling for the Work Ahead.” Click here for a page of photos from the weekend and a bit more about the discussions and activities. Thanks so much to everyone who attended, helped with meals, housing, and planning, and made the weekend a success! More reports will be online soon.
Maine Against Drones
Our own Jason Rawn was on the front page of Maine papers, leading the Maine Peace Drone Walk, which began October 10 in Limestone, in Aroostook County, and ends October 19 in Bath. Fellow war tax resister Frank Donnelly was on the march also, which was organized by Bruce Gagnon of Veterans for Peace and the Global Network Against Weapons and Nuclear Power in Space. “…some politicians in this state would like to put a weaponized drone test center in Aroostook County and that’s one of the reasons for doing this walk,” Gagnon said. The Bangor Daily News featured the walk also.
Weekly stories can be found on our War Tax Talk blog. Check out our ramblings about things related to war tax resistance and refusing to pay federal taxes that help to pay for war — and the weapons of war like drones. Some posts touch on current events, some tell stories from resisters (letters from the IRS, bank account seizures). If you have a story or idea you’d like to share on the blog, please tell us about it in an email. Thanks!
